Newbie. I come bearing gifts.
A film about a disillusioned author of ghost stories who books a night in the most haunted hotel room in New York, number 1408. No one has ever lasted the entire night before.
And with that incredibly foreboding prelude out of the way, we press on. To the ending. Because, as Stephen King put it in Secret Window, the only thing that matters is the ending. And this ending was absolutely perfect. There is only one way to describe it.
Everything exploded and it was incredible.
However there were parts of the film that, while they lassoed everything in, failed to maintain the pace. Twenty minutes shaved from the middle and I would have been a very happy camper. (Possible a camper with smores.)
Otherwise, brilliant movie.
